Three of Wands Tarot Card Meaning

The Horizon Seeker
✦
Expansion • Anticipation • Discovery

An achievement of some description, the first hurdle overcome. This isn’t the final outcome, you’re pretty much still at the starting blocks. Nevertheless, this is an important stage on your journey; celebrate and be proud of yourself.

This is the first Wands card to portray real achievement. Something has come to fruition and the Subject has managed to manifest an idea into reality. The wants and aspirations depicted by the Wands cards are not always feasible or realistic. They may take the Subject’s fancy but ultimately come to nothing. not with the Three, though, and that's why it's such a positive card. It shows a project/venture or pursuit that has sparked the passion of the Subject, but, moreover, that the Subject has actually been able to show there is something very sound about it.

This is obviously a fulfilling experience and will drive the Subject on to do, and achieve, more. They should be mindful that the Three is still an “early stage” card. The situation as it is now will change and develop. It's likely that there are challenges and hurdles to overcome but, for now, they should be feeling happy and excited about what is ahead of them.

Love & Relationships

Emotional horizons begin widening. A relationship may be moving beyond its early uncertainty, or someone may finally recognise there is more waiting for them than the life they have settled into so far. Anticipation carries both excitement and vulnerability.

◈

Material Life

Effort begins reaching beyond immediate survival. Long-term plans, wider horizons or opportunities connected to travel, business or growth start revealing themselves gradually. Patience matters here, especially when the results are still too distant to fully hold in your hands yet.

Notes from the Artist

Three Wands are fully rooted in the ground. They are set neatly and strong within a ring of fire and the Wands are blooming with buds and flowers. Some of the flames within the circle of fire are leaping upwards full of energy to burn, with little starshaped sparks flirting off them. There is celebration, form and excitement bursting from this image.
