Six of Cups Tarot Card Meaning

The Rememberer
✦
nostalgia • Memory • Innocence

You feel regret over a relationship that went awry and long for it to be the way it was. The Six of Cups is the card of nostalgic feeling. You may be able to revive this relationship or heal rifts now because, with the benefit of hindsight, you see things more clearly.

The Six of Cups is a card of reflection and the Subject could, or should, be looking into their past to gain some clarity in the here and now. The Subject is likely to be thinking about a particular relationship, or person, wondering whether there is a chance of a reunion or a reconciliation of some sort.

Given that time has passed and people grow up, there is probably a chance that the things that went wrong in the past could now be put right. But, when considering resurrecting an old relationship, the Subject should be careful not to look at the past through rose-tinted spectacles. They need to be sure they do, truly, understand what the old issues were and that they can say, with confidence, that this relationship won’t follow the same path as before.

Love & Relationships

Old memories rise gently to the surface now. nostalgia, familiarity and emotional innocence shape this connection, sometimes beautifully and sometimes deceptively. not everything that feels familiar is truly meant to be returned to unchanged.

◈

Material Life

Familiar comforts pull strongly now. Old homes, memories, traditions or emotional attachments create temporary feelings of safety, though not every past version of stability can truly be returned to unchanged. nostalgia softens reality until the cracks become easier to overlook.

Notes from the Artist

The six Cups sit neatly aligned in the arcing branches of the tree and the foliage and blooms are healthy but there is not an abundance of new growth. The water flow is still separate and does not indicate a full blown emotional union but a level of separate paths. This suggests a hiatus of reflection looking back at better emotional times and wishing for it now.

Six Cups sit neatly in three rows of two within the arching branches of the tree. The foliage and blooms are healthy but not growing in abundance. The water flows separately down the row of Cups, but not between the Cups to indicate a lack of unity.
