Nine of Cups tarot card from the Simply Tarot deck

Nine of Cups Tarot Card Meaning

The Solid Bough
✦
Satisfaction • Pleasure • Gratitude

The Nine of Cups shows you enjoying the benefits of a close relationship and feel as if all your dreams and wishes are coming true. You’ve worked hard and endured a lot to get here. These good times are a validation of your commitment, enjoy!

This is a very strong relationship card because it represents unconditional love. The relationship in question has already come through difficulty, and possibly even separation, in the past. With hindsight there may be regret about what may have happened previously, but right now, at this very moment, the Subject feels as if it has all been worth it.

This card refers to relationships that have come through trials and tribulations and survived. The people involved know each other all too well encompassing both the good and the bad. They love each other unconditionally and have forgiven each other for arguments and disagreements. This is a more sincere bond built on a truer understanding of the other person, warts and all. This will be boosting the Subject’s confidence and they should be very happy.

Love & Relationships

Emotional satisfaction feels close enough to finally exhale into. Pleasure, affection and intimacy are able to be enjoyed more fully when the heart stops waiting for disaster to interrupt happiness. Gratitude deepens connection far more than perfection ever could.

◈

Material Life

Comfort settles gently around this card. Pleasure, emotional satisfaction and the ability to finally enjoy what has been built create a rare sense of ease after long periods spent striving or surviving. Stability feels softer once the nervous system no longer expects loss to arrive at any moment.

Notes from the Artist

The tree is strong and sturdy - its roots in the pool below expanding and sprouting new growth. Six Cups sit happily on the lower bough of the tree, and three Cups are held in an almost heart shaped embrace of two branches. There is strength and growth in this tree, indicating emotional stability, energy and promise. The water streams are absent which suggests there is a still a little way to go, but very soon the rewards will be great.
