The Tarotscopes for May 2016 from Simply Tarot proved a little elusive at first – no spread in particular was coming to mind as appropriate for use for this coming month, and it became clear to me that the cards (and the Universe) seemed to be requesting a specific influence which I just couldn’t grasp at first. Naturally, I ended up asking the cards what focus they wanted me to use for us all in the readings. They produced the Queen of Wands. I realised, then, that they wanted me to delve into what we need to do to get motivated, and take the next step on our pilgrimage to a better place.
So, using the Wands’ element of Fire I created a four card spread, based on the actual word FIRE (Feel, Inspect, Rise and Expect) which would allow the cards to show how we need to approach the coming month and galvanise ourselves into action, to bring the results we are trying to achieve.
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need)
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know)
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge)
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions)
Well, here we go ~ please do let me know whether you find this helpful/useful and share, share, share ~ thank you 🙂
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) The Chariot
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) Six of Cups
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) The Sun
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) Seven of Wands
Grabbing the reins and getting in control should be important to you this month; whether you realise this or not, it is time for you to get some direction in your life. You may already know, or feel this, but if you don’t, then it is time to examine whether you are heading the way you actually want to go…………. or whether you are being pushed and pulled in different directions by those around you. It is good to be accommodating to others, but not totally at your own expense, especially if you feel that you are not receiving those things you most want out of life. If you are not sure which way to go, you need to find what it is that will make you feel fulfilled. The Six of Cups suggests that a relationship would certainly give you the sense of travelling on the right road. Is it companionship/love that you need to make you happy right now? Are you thinking about a past relationship which seemed, with hindsight, to have ticked all the right boxes? If you are sure that this relationship would work the second time round, and not just remembering the easy bits, if you think you have both learned some valuable lessons since then, perhaps it is worth pursuing – once you are sure where you are heading it may be that, this time, it will work out.
The Sun in the Rise position represents what will have a positive effect on you if you change your attitude to things a little. The Sun speaks of acknowledging those things that keep us alive and thriving, being thankful for the wonderful aspects of life, about not taking things for granted. By taking time to really look around you, and feeling happiness and gratitude at all times, you will find that things take a turn for the better in every way, on a personal level. Even if your enthusiasm wanes and you lose your motivation (7 of Wands) for having this sunny and bright attitude, you must be firm with yourself and make sure you always look on the bright side. By working towards, and expecting to be, happy ~ even through the darker times ~ is what will bring true happiness and joy, so keep it up.
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) King of Swords
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) Eight of Pentacles
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) The Wheel of Fortune
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) Judgement
Do you feel like you are master of your own thoughts? Or do you need to learn how to have clarity and understanding of what, and why, things happen to you the way they do? The King of Swords is intellectual and very clever, he knows what he wants and how to go about getting what he needs. Maybe you feel that this is something you would really like to be able to do, but don’t really know where to start. Even very emotional people can train themselves to keep their feelings under control, so that their judgement is not clouded in times of trouble. The Eight of Pentacles is a clue as to how to focus your thoughts on what you need right. You may have to sit somewhere quiet and really have a clear and unemotional look at what is needed in your life right now. It might be that you need a variety of things to happen for you – finances, love relationships, a change in your routine, but it will pay to take one step at a time. So, if money is an issue, think long and hard whether you need to find a job, or change to a better job, to get things on a roll. It is likely that all the other things will fall into place bit by bit if you do.
By taking this one step, The Wheel of Fortune suggests that opportunities might just be round the corner for you, so you might need to make sure you are not day dreaming about how you would like life to be, and be truly alert for real chances that you can grab with both hands to start making those changes. Judgement in the Expect position, suggests that, if you make these efforts, you will see that it has all been worthwhile, for the reality is that you have sown good seeds and are ready to reap the rewards.
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) Ace of Pentacles
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) Two of Cups
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) Six of Wands
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) Two of Pentacles
The Ace of Pentacles suggest you feel ready for something new – a new stage in your career, a new home to live in, or anything/something new with respect to your material aspect in life. There is a lot of energy around for this right now, so it seems a good time to really focus on what it is that you are looking for, and what will make you very happy at this time. The Two of Cups suggests that your home life, or relationships, might need a little extra attention, since it is in the Inspect position. Maybe it is time to settle down, or maybe it is time to invest some time and effort with the one you love (it is easy to get into a rut in terms of relationships) and start a new phase of happiness together. It is necessary to understand the importance of having other people in our life, and they mustn’t be taken for granted. It is not a given that they will always be there for you, so you need to let them know how much they are loved and needed.
We have the Six of Wands in the Rise position, which suggests that it is time to celebrate what you have created and established. It is time to look at how well you have built the structure of your established relationships or home life. It is time to not only tell yourself ‘Well done!’, but to get the champagne out and truly celebrate your achievement. Sometimes we need to take a break from striving and just have some fun. In the Expect position, The Two of Pentacles suggests a step up to the next level, through the generosity of someone else, which might well be the result of acknowledging the love in your life. The only way is up!
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) The Chariot
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) The Hermit
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) The Lovers
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) Knight of Swords
You feel you are being pushed and pulled in different directions and you are not sure how to get back in control of where you are heading and what you want to do. The Chariot indicates a time when it is important to get hold of the reins of your life in order to stop the horses taking you somewhere you do not wish to go. So having recognised that this is what you need to do, it is important for you to take some time – where you can be quiet – in order to contemplate exactly what it is that you want in your life and why (The Hermit). It may just be that you yearn for some time on your own because you feel that you need to recoup and heal a little – it is probably part of your nature. But whatever it is, quiet contemplation will help you understand why you feel out of control right now, and what you need to focus on to make it better.
It may be that you will have to make some choices about the effort you put into your relationships, it might be that you don’t feel you are getting enough spiritual sustenance from those around you at the moment. The Lovers card suggests it is time for you to choose who you want to spend time with; who you wish to put the effort in for, to get the nourishment that you need. With the Knight of Swords appearing in the Expect position, it is possible you may have to make a stand for your rights, and whilst it might be necessary to ‘stand up for what you need’ you should think long and hard about what you say, and to whom you say it, this is because the Knight sometimes charges into situations without fully understanding the impact of his actions. In other words, if you do make a decision that has an impact on someone else, be sure that you can defend your actions. If they love you they will understand.
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) The Emperor
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) The Lovers
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) Ten of Cups
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) The Hanged Man
At last you are feeling under control (The Emperor). You are in the enviable position of feeling like you have built up a strong domain of which you are proud and of which you are now ready to protect with all the force of your might. But life doesn’t end there, it goes on and you now may want to look at the next stage of your life which needs attention. In the Inspect position we have The Lovers card, which is often about making choices in love. If this is the case, maybe it is time to look closely at exactly what it is you want from a love relationship, or whether it is now time for you to find a partner. Relationships can come and go easily, but it is only when we commit that we can get some sense of permanence, is this what you are looking for now? Is this the next stage in the building of your empire? An Empress? Look deep into your heart to decide whether the time has come to hold onto what you have found or to search for the love of your life.
The Ten of Cups in the Rise position indicates that this may be a good time to commit, and that all is in your favour of a relationship working out beautifully. This card speaks of happiness and true love after struggles, and that relationships are set to flourish, but in order to achieve this you must rise to this next stage of development, it depends on your input. The Hanged Man in the Expect position might just be suggesting that it may not happen as quickly as you would wish, but this card advises against pushing and forcing things to make it happen to suit your own timings. Submit to this next stage with patience and understanding if you wish to succeed. All will come about at the right time.
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) Four of Cups
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) Ace of Cups
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) The Fool
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) Ten of Wands
You are feeling pretty bored either in a particular relationship, or a specific situation, and there seems very little point in making any effort at the moment. If this is not the case then maybe you feel this way because you are not in a relationship at all. The Four of Cups in the Feel position suggests that you are not happy, in some way, with regards to relationships right now. The Ace of Cups in the Inspect position suggests that you need to spend some time and ask yourself why this is the case, and it may be indicating that the best place to start is with you. Are you unhappy with yourself? Is this not working out because of your attitude? Are you lonely? Do you want to be in a relationship but not in one right now? This card is saying there is energy around a developing relationship if you make the effort. That is, you may need to put more into current relationships to see how easily they can flourish – or you need to get noticed by holding your head high and being proud of yourself, and this way you may find someone very attracted to you.
By taking the first steps to make changes (The Fool), it is likely that this boredom and lack of motivation will disappear, and you might find yourself on a new and exciting adventure. You could find this a bit overwhelming and demanding (Ten of Wands) at first, but truthfully, if you don’t do something to get the energy going, your love life is not going to change dramatically. So it is up to you to make the first moves, either show some love to your partner or make sure you are making the most of the opportunities around you, and using the abilities you have no doubt got, to attract more love into your life.
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) King of Wands
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) The Devil
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) The Chariot
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) Eight of Wands
You may already feel, or may want to feel, that you are mastering all the tasks and projects you need to turn your hand to in your life (King of Wands). However, if you are struggling, on occasions, to really nail things quite as well as you should, or indeed as well as you know you can, then you need to look at the areas that are holding you back. The Devil in the Inspect position suggests that you know, deep inside, that there are things that you are doing which are stopping you from really having the energy and drive to competently get through all the things you do in a day. By looking at the things that are hindering you, such as not eating enough, not getting enough sleep, or overindulging in substances such as alcohol, tobacco and such like, you may be able to identify even one thing that you can tackle which may help you with either time, money or energy. But it is down to you to decide in which area you can make that difference.
The Chariot indicates that, by choosing one of these habits to overcome, you are likely to regain some control over your life, and the things you are tasked with, be it at home or at work. You will be able to focus on where you are heading more clearly and will have the strength to stay true to the path you have chosen, being positively in charge of the reins. And indeed, once in charge of your chariot you can expect more than being able to cope better with your tasks, but you will be full of creativity, drive and ambition and you will be rolling faster and further than you have ever done before (Eight of Wands).
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) Page of Wands
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) Ace of Swords
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) Four of Swords
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) Judgement
Do you feel like you are constantly rushing around or feel like you are being sent from pillar to post? The Page of Wands suggests that you might be in a new situation where you feel like a novice and it is not sitting that well on you. It might be that you feel you are ready to take a new direction. It might be a new project or perhaps a desire to travel, but, in which ever of these it is, you need to decide what exactly it is that you need to work on to make you feel that you are achieving something tangible. It may be time to take a logical and unemotional look at the situation you find yourself in right now. Perhaps a brainstorm might help, and surprise you with deep down secret desires that you actually aren’t aware of. This is not a time for feelings and gut instincts – you need to clear your brain and really look objectively at where you are now, where you want to be and how to go about achieving it.
The Four of Swords is a card that speaks of healing and rest after a trauma and, because it is in the Rise position of your reading, it is likely to be suggesting that you do really some time for rest and recuperation. This is not to be looked at as something that is self-indulgent but as a fact, and by taking a breather you may find yourself, once more, fired up to get back firmly on the path you want to take. Taking ‘time out’ to do something that will make you stronger and happier, and give you chance to think and work out your strategy, will help enormously. You will find that if you do, you may well get the rewards you seek, because the Judgement card, in the Expect position, represents a time when you are given the recognition for the efforts you put in.
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) Eight of Wands
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) Judgement
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) Ten of Pentacles
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) The Moon
This month of May you should be feeling like you are getting back into your stride, which is going to make you feel much happier than lately. You have such a lot to offer, you do so much, and you have so many ways of achieving good things for yourself and those around you (Eight of Wands), that now is a time to tell yourself ‘Well done!’. This month, it seems will be full of recognition for all you do. It will be clear to those around you, too, what effort you put in to achieve, and you will be seen as you ought to be seen (Judgement) – look for signs that acknowledge, and give back to you, the recognition or reward you deserve. Judgement is a card which represents how behaviours are rewarded – you reap what you sow – and there are times when this card appears to indicate that this might be the time your behaviours and attitudes pay off. It is important, sometimes, to take a back step and analyse how you are doing things, too. Are you getting the best results? If not, a slight change of tactics might just answer.
In some respects, too, if you take a look around you, and look at the material situation you find yourself in, you will understand that your efforts have brought you very far indeed and that you are in a very stable and secure position. This of course means that you have everything you need, on a material level, and there is little that you could ask for at this stage in terms of your lifestyle. However, The Moon in the Expect position may bring an element of mystery to your world, where things are not as clear as they should be, and what you are used to. It might be necessary to partially trust your instincts and partially be prepared to wait until things crystallise before you can see the full picture. This is all part of learning how to step into the unknown, and how it is important to trust your own abilities. To some this is wisdom, to others it is fear of the unknown. You know which applies to you.
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) Seven of Wands
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) The Wheel of Fortune
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) Page of Cups
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) Page of Swords
The need for motivation is important to you at all times, and maybe, at the times when your enthusiasm wanes, you have a recoil which is difficult to come out of. Just like the story of the tortoise and the hare, there is a difference between slow and steady and ‘haring’ along at breakneck speed to get the results out, and the resultant ‘burn’ – in fact, people work in different ways and can still get the desired result either way, but the problem is how we can protect ourselves from the burn? How do you feel when the motivation goes, when something has run you off course? Is it easy to get back on track, or do you struggle? This is what you need to look at. If it is not usually a problem for you to get back on top, then fine, except The Wheel of Fortune might just be saying (in the Inspect position) that one day your work is thriving and uplifting, and another day something could totally knock you off balance. So, if you are faced with something that truly blows you off course, do you know how to recover?
In the Rise position, we have the Page of Cups, who knows what he wants but struggles to manifest it, and until he is clear in his own heart about who and what he is, he is unlikely to meet his mate, or find the truth that he seeks. Looking into your own reflection, where your soul dwells, and recognising that you are true to your course, despite the obstacles and the people who try to trip you, your own conviction in what you do, is all that really matters. In which ever way other people behave, how others may misinterpret or misunderstand you (The Page of Swords), you will be steadfast knowing that you give your best, you do it with the best of intentions, and that is all that you need to understand. It really doesn’t matter that there are people who chip away at your integrity. The truth is, you will know what is in your heart, as will so many others, and you will know that it is good.
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) Knight of Cups
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) The Star
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) King of Swords
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) The Magician
You may be feeling that, at last, you have found the one for you. The Knight of Cups indicates that you are in love, maybe with another person, or maybe you have learned to love yourself. Love is the key to overcome any obstacles in your journey. This is a significant breakthrough for you, after what seems an eternity of searching and hoping, and at times losing faith altogether. The Star, in the Inspect position, backs this up, in that, this card stresses the importance of having hope in your heart, even in the darkest of times, but also that you finally understand that is very rare for a situation to be completely hopeless. This frees you from the fear that enfolds you at times. Knowing that things can often work out beyond your wildest dreams, that miracles can frequently happen, is something you can now hold onto for the future.
In the Rise position, you can now apply this through logical thought as well as your heart. The King of Swords is the master of clear thinking and mental agility, he would indicate that it is important to process your experiences and come to the conclusion that the way you think, what you do and what you say, has significant impact on those around you, but ‘knowing’ that life and love with its ups and downs is more than just happenstance, things can change, love and life are worth fighting for, ‘believing’ in, it is time to have faith not just in your heart but in your head too. You are now on a new road, with skills you have gained along the way (The Magician) – the future holds exciting new challenges for you, but now you should know there is nothing that you can’t handle, and if you can now trust that nothing is written in stone, you can meet each new challenge full of hope and belief.
Position 1 F – Feel (How you feel or learning to feel your need) The Fool
Position 2 I – Inspect (Finding what you need to know) Ten of Pentacles
Position 3 R – Rise (Rising to the challenge) Three of Wands
Position 4 E – Expect (Possible outcome of your actions) The Lovers
May might bring you the feeling that you need a new start, perhaps it’s a longing to do things differently, to start again, probably on a job or business level, or even a new job, only you will know which applies. You can always do this, even just by taking a different approach to what you are doing right now. Having a new approach would give you the chance to do things wholeheartedly, and to the best of your ability, because of lessons you have learned along the way. The Fool represents new beginnings, so, if you are starting anew, stay alert and on the look-out for pitfalls, instead of being totally immersed in the excitement of it all. The card in the Inspect position, is advising you to look carefully at what a success you can make of it this time. Learning a new skill, getting a qualification in your field, may well give you the platform you need; clear thinking and application can bring, through your efforts, everything you need to make you happy. By understanding what skill sets you need, and paying attention to detail, may help you to succeed beyond your wildest dreams. Do not just leave things to chance.
The Three of Wands in the Rise position, suggests that by learning this new skill, and applying yourself fully to this new project, will soon start showing signs of success, even in such early stages, and, more importantly, it will give you the impetus and drive to push on. The Lovers card, in the Expect position, may represent a new relationship, possibly to do with this new venture, or it could mean that you may have to make some choices between the people you are involved with right now. However, all you need to understand is if everyone involved is treated with fairness and respect all will work out well for you.
